General outline of course :
- Course begins on first working day of May and November
- At least 80% attendance is a must for successful completion
The course is designed to provide experience with clinical cytogenetics techniques including culture, harvesting, banding techniques, karyotyping of peripheral blood, bone marrow and amniotic fluid samples for diagnosis of both oncologic and non-oncologic conditions, and FISH.
The candidate will attend the course for six months
One candidate per session (6 months)
MD or DNB in Pathology. The degree should have been obtained from a recognized institution. There is no age limit.
The following areas will be covered as part of the training over a period of 6 months :
Majority of theoretical knowledge will be through self-learning, though part of it would also be through interaction with laboratory staff. There will be a major focus on bench-top training to give the candidate a sound foundation. Interpretation skills will be through one to one interaction with the mentor.
The training institution does not guarantee that trained candidates will be absorbed at the end of the course
